There is a closing date that may move, a lease that ends on a fixed day, a nursery that has to be usable the first night, and a child who is not going to be patient about any of it. Everything is labeled with the room it is going to at the new house rather than the room it came from, which sounds small and saves an hour on the unload.

On an unload the crew rebuilds the cribs and the beds before anything else gets carried in, so bedtime is not waiting on a box search. Hardware is bagged and taped to the piece it came off.
A container lets you move in stages
A PODS, U-Box or PackRat box in the driveway can be loaded across two weekends instead of one twelve-hour day. That is usually the single biggest difference between a calm family move and a miserable one.
Packing is the part that runs out of hours
Nobody with a toddler has three free evenings to box a kitchen. Hand us the rooms you have not started, keep the ones you want to do yourself, and we label everything by the room it is going to.

Can you pack just the kids' rooms and the kitchen?⌄
Yes, and that is the most common version of this booking. You keep the rooms you want to do yourself and we take the ones you have run out of evenings for. Everything is labeled by the room it is going to at the new house.
Can the move happen over two weekends instead of one day?⌄
Yes, if you use a container. A PODS, U-Box or PackRat box sitting in the driveway can be loaded in stages, and the load and the unload can be separate bookings weeks apart. Tell us the plan when you call and we will quote it that way.
Will the cribs and beds be rebuilt the same day?⌄
Yes, and they go up before anything else is carried in. The crew takes them apart at the old house, bags and tapes the hardware to the frame, and rebuilds them first at the new one so bedtime is not held up.
Our closing date might move. What happens to the booking?⌄
Call us as soon as you know. Dates slide on house moves more often than on apartment moves, and it is far easier to shift a booking a week out than the night before. We will tell you honestly what is still open.
Do you move the things we do not want to carry ourselves?⌄
Yes. The piano, the safe, the treadmill and the sectional that will not turn on the stair are all quoted as part of the job, and a crew is sized to the weight rather than to whoever is free.
Which suburbs do you cover for a family move?⌄
The core area has no travel charge and takes in Oak Park, Elmwood Park, Park Ridge, Norridge, Skokie, Evanston, Berwyn, Des Plaines, Schaumburg and the rest of the ring around the city. Further out, at Naperville, Wheaton, Elgin or Crystal Lake, we still come and a travel rate is added on top of the labor rate.
